Transfer and Frosties Update

TransferToday is 1DP5DT. Our transfer was at 11:00am yesterday, so DH and I were able to go out for breakfast before heading to the clinic. We arrived about 40 minutes before our transfer time, so I can get checked in and changed. This is the first time DH has been able to go with me to a transfer. I’m taking it as a good sign! Egg Retrieval and Embryo Update

The retrieval happened on Tuesday!! There’s good news and bad news. Bad news: my RE didn’t do the retrieval, and now three days later, I’m still full of gas. I’m pretty sure it’s not OHSS since it’s my upper abdomen that’s bloated, and I just feel gassy.ER Embryo Continue reading

Needles and stuff

IVF UpdateSo it has begun. IVF round 2 is well underway. I started Lupron last Saturday, without any drama. I had DH do the shots for me for about a week since I just couldn’t stab myself with the tiny needle. But something came over me a few nights ago, and I said, screw it, I’m doing this myself. So here we are, about a week left of lupron, and I’m doing the shots myself! Woot! Continue reading

New Job, New Perspective!

Yes, DH is finally starting his new job on Monday, and he’ll stop eating my packed lunches! But, I will also be starting a new job in a couple of weeks! It was a hard decision for me to leave my current role as a freelancer. I love what I’m doing, the people I work with are great. However, with the inevitable cost of IVF, I needed to find a role with benefits. Continue reading

New Consultation!

DH and I finally met with the new clinic last week. It was a much better experience than our previous consultation. Our previous consult was less than half an hour, and we were immediately being pushed towards IVF without having done any blood tests. Last week’s consult was a breath of fresh air. We ended up being at the clinic for over 2 hours, and most of that was talking with the doctor and geneticist, and not just waiting around! Continue reading

New consult scheduled!

We have an appointment with a new fertility clinic! I’m so excited to visit another facility so that we can compare and figure out who’s the best fit for us. The original urologist that DH was supposed to see also works out of this clinic, and the scheduling clerk was able to give us an appointment with him too! We can finally get a second opinion! We’ve tried to see this urologist originally at Olive Fertility, but his schedule there didn’t match DH’s work schedule, so he was sent to the other doctor. When we decided to get a second opinion, we tried to get this doctor again, but at his independent practice, but we never heard back from his office. It’s been over 6 weeks! Continue reading

The Internet is my Infertility Frenemy

Before we even started TTC (or even married!), my SIL gave me her copy of Taking Charge Of Your Fertility. I read that book cover to cover in a couple days, and that’s when I started tracking my cycles. I was just doing it for fun at first, but quickly became obsessed with tracking my temperature, cervical mucus, and eventually my cervix.Dr. Google Continue reading

How did you know your clinic was "the one"?

We have only been to one fertility clinic for a consult. The experience was fine, the clinic was really nice, and our patient coordinator has been so helpful. However, DH found that they were really pushy in getting us to start IVF right away. The urologist he met with also practiced out of the same clinic, and he was also very pushy towards IVF.

I’ve read that for IUI to be one of the potential methods, DH needs at least 5 million sperms so there will still be a substantial number after the wash. DH’s sperm counts are LOW, at 1 million, so I wasn’t as surprised that they were pushing for IVF.

I’ve put in a request to go to another fertility clinic. So here we are waiting again. How many clinics did you consult with before find the one? How did you know it was the one?

Running cost of TTC

I figured it might be worthwhile to keep track of how much we spend on TTC. I will probably be depressed knowing how much I spent, but I think it’s good to keep track.

How much have you spent on TTC? Let me know in the comments below!
