Transfer day!

Yesterday was the big day!! I added Crinone six days ago, and I’m happy to say that it’s not as messy as Endometrin. My craziness has definitely subsided after two weeks on Estrace.

DH and I went for sushi at my favourite place the night before in anticipation of a successful pregnancy. The morning started like every other morning. I woke up, went to Bar Method, and went to work. Of course I had to stop at Starbucks and get my (hopefully) last caffeinated Americano Misto for the next nine months.

My transfer was scheduled for 1:30, and I had to be there at 1:00. All I could think about in the morning was the embryo surviving the thaw. I kept looking at my phone to make sure the clinic didn’t call to cancel the transfer.

I arrived a little early for my appointment. My bladder was full, and getting fuller by the second. When I arrived, there was another patient in the OR. I was given my instructions, and then I waited. Nurses came in and out of the pre-op area, and the on-call doctor walked by and introduced herself. She was putting on her lab coat as she walked by, so I automatically jumped to the conclusion that neither embryo survived, and I’m just waiting for the bad news from the embryologist. Finally, after 20 minutes, the embryologist came in. I think she was there for my retrieval, but I was so loopy after, I honestly don’t remember.

She gave me the news. Our day 6 4BB embryo thawed perfectly! The quality was just as it was when it was frozen. I asked if it was hatching yet, and she said not yet, but they typically hatch the evening of day 6. She gave me a quick overview of what the ratings meant, and that was it! I was so relieved. We still have one embryo left.

I walked into the OR, plopped myself on the table, and tried not to pee myself. The nurse looked at my bladder, and located my uterus. I have a retroverted uterus, so when the doctor came in, the nurse made sure she told the doctor. To my surprise, the doctor already knew because she just looked at the notes from my last transfer. I don’t know why I was surprised. I should expect the doctor to have looked at my chart. I’ve never met this doctor before. She was never around during my monitoring appointments, but I did know of her.

The speculum was uncomfortable because of how full my bladder was, but the catheter went in so much easier than the first time. I barely felt it. The procedure was also much quicker.

And with that, I was given a picture, and sent on my way. My beta is in 9 days! Wish me luck!
